Oh, to be 5 again

Spent some time on the river this morning with JJ and his friend Will. Kids find joy everywhere...when did we "adults" lose that ability, or at least start seeing it less? Technically, we were fishing, but mostly JJ and I tossed jigs while Will played in the mud. Eventually JJ joined him, but not before we caught a couple of small bass.

This was Will's first trip, and he was a little too afraid to hold a fish, but the fish were basically irrelevant...and while welcome, completely unnecessary. This morning was about friendship, and joy. For the most part, I just watched...joy abounded.

I think about that ability to have fun anywhere all the time...I really miss that

Other than perhaps freshman year of college it really doesn't get any better than that.

Way to go, John!

BTW - is that the Pudding by chance?

Yep...pudding. Looks different this year, the channel changed again. I wandered up and walked down the old channel this evening...lost a really nice bass on a jig. I suck at spin fishing. I can't hold a bass on a jig for the life of me, but I just didn't feel like getting the fly rod out...mostly wanted to see what it looks like where the old channels came together. Nice walk anyway.

I think we do still have the ability...we just lose sight. Although I saw it so clearly here. Thanks, John...and JJ and Will...for the reminder. :)

Kids and water are a magnet not denied. Good work with them, just the way to be. Too much fun.
