Here is a picture of KB's monster carp. Living where we live, a 20 lb carp is a real trophy, especially on a flyrod. We see a lot of fish in the 5-10 lb range, and plenty of fish in the low teens, but the big boys are much tougher to find around Portland. Next spring I'll make a trip to Eastern Oregon to chase down rumors of 20lb AVERAGE size carp. I've seen the pictures to prove it, and hopefully the 30 lb barrier will be tested next spring. Something tells me I won't have trouble talking KB into joining me!
Great fish KB!

Wow - that is a huge carp. What was the setting in which it was hooked? Was it cruising or feeding?
KB said he was fishing off of the point of that little bay, and he could see several fish feeding, but they clouded the water up so bad he could just see flashes of tails. he dropped his nymph in there and twitched it back, and felt the take. nice fish...he hooked 3 doing that, but 2 broke him off in the weeds.
Pretty carp. I used to fish for them when I lived in the Bay Area (and the 5 pound fish I caught would just tie me in knots).
Living on the Upper Sacramento River in the mountains of Northern California means I've got lots of trout to chase, but I'm just as happy chasing smallmouth bass, and wonder why so many fly fishers just can't see beyond trout...
Nice blog John...visit mine sometime
Amazing...Was it fun to reel in? Thanks for the interesting story.

Great looking Carp, What did you use for bait, and what rig did you use?
