Travel

In Chicago, missed my connection to Pittsburgh. Got wireless, a basketball game and an early morning flight. A quick google search found this:

Old post but enough to make me think I should bring a rod next time I am in town...just look for the "scum collecting around the downed trees."

Is there anywhere near the Portland area to chase carp this time of year? The rivers are soo blown out Im going crazy...no steelhead...No good snow on the mtn. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Been reading this blog for long time now, enjoy it thoroughly.

During the warmest part of the day you could probably find some very slow fish in the shallows of local ponds/lakes, but it would be a crapshoot. the rivers are just too cold right now for the fish to be in the shallows.

i'm with you on the stir crazy thing.

That's funny. I just came to your site based on OBN mentioning it today. Read down, hey, I know chitown angler, I have a couple of thousand posts there. Sure enough, you picked one of mine from 8 years ago. In that thread, Bob Long is a good friend and exceptional fly fisherman. He also fishes for carp on the fly with a custom built 1 weight rod, not kidding. It's been awhile since I've done it. The carp are extremely active right now if you find open water on the river. Great blog. Bookmarked.
