50 lb grass carp on the fly!

Wow...some pretty impressive fish here:

It is illegal to target grass carp in OR and WA, but I landed one in FL while down there on business. I crawled around a pond in front of a grocery store on my hands and knees to avoid spookign the beasts, and still only managed one take. Really tough fish...I'd love to catch some in this size range!

Lordy... you have to get one like that. I know it bugs you that someone else has caught one that big.

i know 2 places where i could catch one that big. the ethical dilemma is real though. it is illegal to target them, and what else are you doing when you sight fish only? plus, one of the two places is a golf course, and it would be tough to sneak on there!

Hi John,

I love Flyfishing for Carp as well and live on Fairview Lake near Blue Lake Park in Troutdale.

It would be fun to go Fishing with you one day. Andy Pibal got me interested in Carp Fishing and it has been a lot of fun for me.
