I got home from work today and Elia was all excited to open a package that had arrived in the mail. It turns out that I won the Carp Anglers Group Big Fish Award for the 2007 Fly Fishing Category. The fish in question was caught on the Columbia river last fall (just made the deadline) and was landed after quite a battle thanks to some help from KB. Pretty neat looking award, it will look great in my office! The other award winners are listed here:

Now that I've figured out how to catch those ugly things, you will have to show me where to apply for all the awards! I talked to Julio while pheasant hunting and it will still take some doing to get him to fish for carp. But, I think I can shame him into it with the right challenge.

First we have to spot one that big...I don't think any of the fish you and i saw were quite this big, but I know there are bigger fish out there. This spring when the big boys are up on that flat you'll get your shot at them.

I'll work on julio...if he did it once, he'd be hooked.
