This time of year the kids and I hit the flooded fields, armed with nets and smiles, hoping to run down some carp. It is always a crapshoot. One day the shallows might be full of fish, splashing and spawning, easy targets for fleet footed children with long arms nets. The next, the fish stay just on the edge of the grasses, in knee or thigh deep muddy water where we really have no chance.
Today was a mix. We got some chances at shallow fish, and Elia managed to net one (which she promptly named "Silly") but overall the fish stayed a little too deep. JJ had some shots and a few carp bounced off the edge of his net, but he had to be content to splash around and chase fish. Hopefully we get one more shot at em, JJ hates to be outdone by his sister.

That looks like just too much fun. Thanks for sharing!
thanks for sharing your family fun! My daughter Ali would love to do this! She is 12 and so adventurous!
Sweet! Love seeing kids outside away from phones & screens.
These posts are always great. And I think I saw you guys out there. I didn't see as many as I'm used to either.
You should have come and said hello Tim! There were not a ton of fish around and the good fields are still dry. We need more water so the clear water fields have some carp in them. That muddy stuff sucks.
Oh boy, have I got some grand kids that would be in hog heaven. A great Dad you are!
